“It was all a dream.”
The Healing Collective is a community-rooted therapy and consulting practice led by three Black women social workers committed to holistic, culturally grounded healing.
Founded by Aayla Alexander, Dr. Mar’Kayla Walker-Jones, and Phylicia Currence, The Healing Collective was born from years of shared experience, mutual respect, and a deep calling to reimagine what healing can look like — especially for Black women, young adults, and marginalized communities.
Together, we bring over a decade of experience in mental health care, social work, and higher education. We’ve worked across college counseling centers, outpatient clinics, nonprofit spaces, and private practice — and we saw the gaps. The need for wellness spaces that feel affirming, culturally responsive, and community-centered was clear.
So we created one.
We believe that healing is not just an individual journey — it's collective. It happens in spaces where people feel seen, safe, and supported. Our work is grounded in care, collaboration, and cultural truth. Whether we’re facilitating a therapy group, consulting with organizations, or offering space for reflection after community crisis, we meet people with compassion, expertise, and authenticity.
At The Healing Collective, we honor the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — and root our work in the belief that healing is possible when we do it together.
